Kenneth W. Gillett, 72, “Mr. Kenny”, “Pops”, passed away August 31, 2021. Ken was the son of Clay and Mary Gillett. He was born and raised in Tampa, Florida where he met and married the love of his life, Glenda, and had two children.
Ken and his family moved to Albany, Georgia where he worked for Addison Steel, then started and ran his own business, and met many new friends. When Ken retired, he moved back to his hometown.
Ken enjoyed helping people. He gave a “hand up” to many people and made a significant impact on their lives. He was an empathetic and caring man. He was a caregiver, had a great sense of humor, and was liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting. He was a lifelong Florida Gator fan.
Ken is preceded in death by the love of his life for over 55 years, Glenda, his sister Pat, and sister in law Carol. He is survived by his son, Kenny Gillett, daughter, Doreen Desin, his siblings, Don Gillett (Ann), Bernice Daniels (Larry), his sister in laws, Debbie Poplawski, Marilynn Brooks, Barbara Jean Schuch, Nicole Addison, Anna Addison, brother in laws, Jim West, Chris Addison , his grandchildren, Morgan Gillett, Lee Gillett, Kendall Desin, and great granddaughter, Ryleigh Gillett.
A Life Celebration will be held September 25, 2021 with an hour visitation beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.
