Josephine Napoli Collura, 93, of Tampa died Wednesday, October 13, 2021, after an extended illness. She was born November 15, 1927, in Tampa, the daughter of Jack and Maria Napoli. Josie married John Collura in 1949 and she lived in Tampa her whole life. She was employed at various places during her life including several Ybor City cigar factories, Egypt Lake Elementary School as a baker, and was a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the holidays, playing bingo with her friends at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, visiting the beach, and watching her favorite programs on television, including movies by Hallmark.
She is survived by one daughter, Roseann (Stephanie) Giovenco; two sons, John (Joy) Collura, Anthony (Rich) Collura; six grandchildren, Christina (Mike) Giovenco-Auton, Carl Giovenco, Thomas (Wendy) Collura, Christina (Max) Valiquette, Joseph Collura, Timothy (Michelle) Collura; three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Collura, whom she married on June 26, 1949, and who died June 26, 2008, and her younger brother, Louis Napoli. The family would like to express their appreciation to Josie’s caregivers for the wonderful devotion to Josie over the past few years - thank you, Maria, Marisela, Yuvey, Sandra, Juana, and Freddie.
A funeral service for Josephine will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Josephine will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4202 East Lake Ave., Tampa, FL.
