Jonathon was born in Plantation, Florida to Stephen and Marcia Martinez on September 8, 1983, and raised by Pete and Marcia Dorta. He went to high school at North Lauderdale Academy. He married Sabrina Martinez née Herrera on September 23, 2020, in Wesley Chapel, Florida. He graduated from the University of South Florida in August 2019. He worked as a Fiscal and Business Analyst at USF in Tampa as well. He was a retired veteran and served in the United States Air Force from May 2006 to July 2012. He was awarded the Meritorious Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, the Outstanding Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters, the Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award.
Jonathon was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. A notorious sports enthusiast, he loved cheering on the Florida Gators, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Lightning. He lived by the philosophy of his favorite Marvel character, Peter Parker/Spiderman: “With great power comes great responsibility.” He loved spending time with his dogs, Princess Penny and Sir Sandwich. He was a generous, attentive, and thoughtful man who showed, in both big and little ways, that he was constantly thinking of family, friends, and co-workers. He was tenderhearted and sensitive to other’s needs and had a wonderful sense of humor. He believed that, of all gifts, the greatest is love, and he loved fully, deeply, and completely. His wish for all reading this would undoubtedly be to move forward carrying, spreading, and sharing that same love in words and deeds.
Jonathon is preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosemary Roush; his aunt Karen Roush; his aunt Marilyn Roush; his grandparents Eva and Jack Martinez, and his father, Stephen Martinez.
Jonathon is survived by his wife, Sabrina Martinez of Tampa; his brother, Brandon Martinez of North Lauderdale; his mother, Marcia Dorta, and step-father, Pedro Dorta of North Lauderdale, and beloved extended family members, friends, and fellow servicemen throughout the United States.
