Jerry L. Reynolds, D.D.S. F.A.G.D died peacefully on June 23, 2018. Dr. Reynolds lived a life defined by his faith, his family and his career. He was a graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry and practiced in Tampa for 50 years. In his “retirement,” he started his second career and worked for 19 years as the Clinic Supervisor for St. Pete College Dental Hygiene Program. He was always a teacher at heart and loved his students. He also served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry
and on the Florida Board of Dental Examiners. He was deeply committed to his profession, and served as President of the Hillsborough County Dental Society, President of the West Coast Dental Association, and State President of the Florida Academy of General Dentistry. He was a Fellow and Trustee of the National Academy of General Dentistry, the InternationalCollege of Dentistry, and the Academy of Dentistry International. He received the Life Achievement Award from the Hillsborough County Dental Association and the Florida Academy of General Dentistry. He was an Air Force veteran. Dr. Reynolds was a man of deep faith and lived his life in service to the Lord. He was an active member of the former Riverside Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He then joined Idlewild Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Bible
Fellowship teacher and in the Children’s and Concierge Ministries. He volunteered in medical missions and was a trustee of the Idlewild Foundation.
He is survived by Jackie, his wife of 61 years; his children, Elizabeth Reynolds Silverstein (Steve), Laura Sue Thompson (Larry), and David Lind Reynolds (Shellie); his brother, Ron Reynolds (Rosan); and his sister, Rebecca Rivera (Rafael). He was most proud of his seven grandchildren, Stephen, Ryan, David Jr., Andrew, Maggie, Lindsay, and Laura.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Idlewild Baptist Church. Visitation at 10:00 followed by the service at 11:00. Gravesite service immediately following at Garden of Memories.
