JR there hasn’t been as day that’s gone by since your passing that I haven’t thought about you. It brings me to tears each time I think of your beautiful smile. I think about all the times you spent with Hanna and Luke growing up. They always looked up to you. It feels like just yesterday we were living in little Grandmas house and you were out jumping on the trampoline and fell through. I rushed outside thinking I’d have to call 911, but there you were laughing at yourself. I was checking you over for broken bones and you just laughed at me saying that you were just fine. You always kept us laughing. I remember when Jamie couldn’t babysit for us one night and suggested we ask you. I’ll never forget the next morning waking up and seeing the kids dirty feet bc you hadn’t given them a bath. It made my heart happy to think you’d rather spend every moment playing with them before their bedtimes verses taking a bath. I think of when we used to gather up things and send you care packages when you were in Iraq. I remember all your favorite candy that you used to be so grateful for.

 Your smile was infectious and one we will never be able to forget. We don’t know why, but God takes ones we love way too soon when we least expect it. I know losing my own brother so suddenly after a tragic accident how truly painful it is. We love you more than words can express. We will forever carry you with us in our heart. I know you are home in heaven enjoying God’s splendor. God bless your sweet, loving soul.

JR was a member of the Gaither Cowboy swim team, I was his coach. I have several pictures of him in front of me right now, all with a huge smile and a cowboy hat. It's so hard to think of young people leaving us too soon. My sincerest condolences to his family, and may his memory always be a blessing.

JAMES, I am completely in shock and saddened by the news. Over the past 12 years I have been witness to yours and Brooke's life changing moments. I honestly do not have the words to say to help comfort your family and friends and help their hearts begin to heal, however, I hope you rest easy brother. Rest assured knowing your beautiful sons will never forget you and their amazing mother will always keep your memory as vibrant and loving as ever.

I can't seem to find the right words to express my feelings but I am going to give it a shot. I wanted to get close to J R but due to the large age difference that did not happen. J R did to me what no other person I have ever had the honor to meet  he was like a magnet to me because he was always smiling which in turn made me smile. Along with that smile my whole insides just felt great. J R will be missed by many people and now he is giving that smile to God and his Angels.

I struggle to write this even now as I watch our boys say their prayers and go to sleep. I am thankful for the 12 years we had together and the memories we made. As a father, a friend, and my husband, you always gave your best, always made sure we were taken care of, and always gave your all to whatever you put your mind to. I will continue to raise our boys the way they should be surrounded by family, laughter, and love. You will always be in our hearts, minds, and soul. I know you will be watching us from heaven as our boys grow into men. You will always be here with us, JR.

Dan had the opportunity to get to know JR a little through Facebook; he was always happy to communicate with him since he knew he was your son.  We will be praying for you all.
