

LAING, Helen, 97, of Tampa, passed away on May 10, 2016. She was born in Franklin Park, Illinois to Adam & Aniela Plaza. While in Franklin Park, she attended St. Gertude Catholic Church where she was baptized, had communion, confirmation, went to school and married the love of her life, Edwin. She also baptized all her children at St. Gertrude Catholic Church as well as renewed her wedding vows to Edwin on their 50th anniversary. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and loved to fish. She worked outside the home but mostly cared for her six loving children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great great-grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin and her son-in-law, Jack Fanella. She is survived by her 6 children, Eileen (Bob) Templain, Carol Fanella, Don (Germaine) Laing, Tom (Gerri) Laing, Chuck (Jan) Laing, David (special friend Amy) Laing; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held 10am, Friday, May 20, 2016 at St Paul Catholic Church. Additional services will be held in Texas on May 28, 2016 and in Franklin Park on June 4, 2016.
