Hector is preceded in death by his parents Alejandrina “Alice” Serrano Diaz and Henry Diaz, sister, Dora Giuliano. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elisa Morales; daughter, Christine Ellwanger (Kris), stepdaughters, Gina Tamargo and Lisa Tamargo, stepson, Ted Tamargo (Amy); grandchildren, Christina Tamargo, Kirstyn Rojas (Mauricio), Adam Tamargo, Kathryn Ellwanger, and Christopher Ellwanger.
Hector was born on April 7,1931 in Tampa, Florida. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a combat veteran who served as a sergeant in the Korean War. As spoken by Hector, he is “All Marine”. On July 24, 1965, he married the beautiful, love of his life, Elisa. In 1966, Hector fulfilled his longtime passion of body building by opening Morales Health Studio on Platt Street. In 1975, he moved and expanded his gym, opening Hector’s Health Studio and Elisa’s Figure Salon in West Tampa. After 48 years, Hector enjoyed retirement with his wife, Elisa.
Hector was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor. He is a legend. He was loved and well respected by many. He will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass scheduled at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, Florida. A Committal Service will occur Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida.
