George Gonzalez

Passed away on May 22, 2021 at the age of 90. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Frances and their son, George Anthony. He is survived by his daughters Linda Riegler (Michael) and Cathy Simmons (Dan), grandchildren William Conley, Stephen Riegler, Kyle Riegler, Tiffany Bader, Elise Scott, Jenna Hatch and Joanna Zsido, seven great-grandchildren which he cherished, brother David Del Pino, sisters Pilar McHugh, Dianne Bower and Darline Melendreras, Anthony Shephard, a nephew that was like a son to him as well as many other family members that he loved dearly.

George graduated from Jefferson High School. He retired from the City of Tampa Fire Department after 29 years of service and was part owner of Columbia Dairy in Tampa. He loved his gardening, being outside and his cattle. He enjoyed his weekly outing with his brother to the local flea market and gatherings at La Tropicana with friends and retirees from the fire department. He looked forward to the fire department retirees luncheons. He loved our Sunday family gatherings which he cooked spaghetti and meatballs.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. Contributions can be made in his honor to A Kid’s Place, Brandon.
