90, of Tampa, FL, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014. She was born on February 14, 1924, in San Antonio, TX. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, James Homer Turner, on May 20, 2008, daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Turner, on September 13, 1979, brother, Harry (Noonie) Young, sister, Dorthea Young, and parents, Harry and Charlotte Young. Survived by daughter Christa Turner Gamelin and husband, Quentin Franz Gamelin, grandchildren, Travis James Gamelin (Kendall), Amanda Leigh Gamelin Roberts (Ryan), Hilary Christine Gamelin (fiancé Ben Beasley), sister, Duckie Smith (Virgil), nieces, Glenda Kooy Turner (Blaine), Judith Kooy O’Neal (Patrick), and Johanna Young Jensen (Thor), and many great nieces and nephews. Frances moved to Tampa in high school where she attended H. B. Plant High, class of 1942. She attended Business School and later worked for Eastern Airlines. On September 29, 1950, she and James Homer Turner were married. She worked at MacDonald Training Center and later worked as a secretary for the Hillsborough County School System from 1968 to 1985. She was a member of the Junior League and a lifetime member of Palma Ceia United Methodist Church. Frances was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother who cared so much about her family and home. She spent a lot of her life as a volunteer helping others. She had a special place in her heart for her furry children too. Her best friend was Jim, her husband of 54 years. She was always there for anyone that needed her. She was loved and admired by all that knew her. A memorial service will be held at Palma Ceia Methodist on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 10:00am. An interment will follow at Myrtle Hill at 12:30pm.
