Fay went to be with her Lord on November 9, 2024 with her devoted husband by her side. She was born on June 7th, 1933 in Miami, Florida and moved to Tampa when she was twelve years old. Upon arriving in Tampa, her family joined the First Baptist Church where she met her future husband, Buddy (Henry). She attended Wilson Junior High and H.B. Plant High School. At Plant, she was a cheerleader, a member of the Honor Society, the student body Secretary, President of the South Eastern States division of Y-Teens and received the American Legion Award as the outstanding student of the class of 1951. She was also a member of the 1951 Pantherilla Court. After high school, Fay attended the University of Florida, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. At the University of Florida, she was elected a Student Government representative, a member of Chi Omega Sorority and was inducted into Pi Kappa Phi honorary society. After college, Fay pursued her gift of teaching at Tinker Elementary, St. John’s Greek Orthodox and St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School where she was chosen in the first inductee group as a member of the Distinguished Facility of St. Mary’s. After retirement, Fay continued her love of teaching and volunteered teaching adults how to read, one-on-one. Throughout her teaching career, she was devoted to each individual student recognizing the potential in each; this was her gift. She was a member of the Junior League of Tampa, and served as a volunteer at the Shriners Children’s Hospital, the Literary Council and the House of Hope. Fay was always active at the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed reading, walking on the beach at Manasota Key, attending bible studies with her many friends, and playing duplicate bridge where she achieved the rank of ACBL Bronze Life Master. She was predeceased by her parents Evelyn Ellis Patrick and Julian Harold Patrick, and her bother Julian Ellis Patrick. Fay is survived by her husband of 70 years, Henry G. Ennis, Jr. (Buddy), daughter, Leigh Ann Ennis, son, Hank Ennis (Suzanne), granddaughters Carrie Alexander Ferderigos (Spiros), Laura Alexander, Sara Katherine Ennis Henderson (Dylan) and Margo Ennis Compton (Jack), her great grandchildren Laura Leigh and Charlotte Ferderigos, Landon Alexander and Parker Henderson and several nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service will be held in the Culbreath Chapel at the First Baptist Church of Tampa. Afterwards, the family invites all friends to a reception to celebrate Fay’s life on Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club, 5320 Interbay Blvd.
