We miss the red and green lights that you put in your outdoor light fixtures each Christmas, but feel your presence as we ride our bikes past your house each day!  So happy for all of those fun visits that made our daily exercise easier! Greg & Rene MacMinn

I haven’t seen you in a few years Ernie , my children shared the sad news. I cut your hair for many years as well as my children. Are you still love it when you would show up in your fancy cars and trucks. Rest in peace my friend, my condolences to your family ,

We were fortunate to meet your father sometime in the past year at Arco Iris.  Ours was mostly table to table chat but we found him to be the nicest man ... quiet, soft spoken with a wonderful sense of humor.  We had not seen him recently ... thought we just weren't eating on the same night ... and then I read his obit in an old newspaper.   This saddens us and we wanted you to know that we are so sorry for your loss.  

I met Ernie years ago through my late husband, George Fernandez, (no relation), at the St. Joseph Heart Rehab center.  He kept me laughing during my rehab.  Many years later, I ran into him at Caribe Cafe and he sometimes would join me and my friends for our cuban coffee day.  He again, kept me laughing.  He was my friend and I will miss him.  My prayers to his sons and to his family.  He is with God.

So sorry to hear this.  I taught night school for Mr. Fernandez at King High School.  He was always very kind and a pleasure to work for. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

So many of us were blessed to have known such a devoted educated man. Ernie had this persona once he made your acquaintance you knew that you had made a long-lasting friendship. I was fortunate to have worked for Ernie in the Adult Program at Chamberlain until he retired. I was truly shocked and heartbroken when a friend forwarded a copy of his obituary. Ernie and I spoke periodically checking on each other, always enjoying his dry sense of humor. Each talking about our families. Then Covid enter our life he would complain how he felt like a prisoner because he wasn’t able to socialize, he truly was a people person, Oh my God, can’t tell you how many of his calls were to inform me that another one of his friends was either sick or had pass, our conversation would end if I don’t hear from you or you don’t hear from me guess I will see you on the other side. Ernie, I will miss your calls and but you truly earned your wings. Peace 
May your family find peace and comfort in the days to come and know that your Dad, Grandfather love you all so much and were so proud of all of you. He will truly be missed by all those that knew him.    
May you always remember God’s promise of Eternal life.

We will miss seeing Ernie resting outside in his chair after a hard day of working in the yard/pond and being able to stop by on our daily bike ride to visit.  We had many funny and interesting conversations about the past, the present, the cars, the neighborhood, etc.!  So glad we will have the wonderful memories of those chats!

We will miss Ernie's conversations and sense of humor! He would sit with my husband and me at Caribe Cafe on Friday mornings and reminisce about the old days in Ybor City.  It was always a pleasure to  talk about his days at OLPH, as well as his teaching experiences.
