Donna Chien Shapiro, 72, of Tampa, Florida passed away on January 23, 2023. She was a petite, but unbelievably mighty woman, displaying her strength and courage as she lived her life to the fullest while she fought serious medical issues and life challenges. She was a loving wife of 51 years, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Donna (Chien Hsiu Chun) was born on October 6th, 1950 in Shiun-Chu, Taiwan ROC to the parents of Chien Yin Hai and Pan Ruei-Lai. She was the oldest of nine children and grew up with four brothers (Chin Chang, Kuo Feng, Kuo Hui, Kuo Cheng) and four sisters (Li Chen, Wei Fen, Hsio Fen, Feng Chen). Shortly after graduating high school in Taipei, Taiwan, she met her husband, Joseph Shapiro who was stationed in Taipei for the Army. They were married August 28, 1971 and afterward moved to the United States and started a family. Together, they had three children, JoAnn, Lisa and Joey. Donna enjoyed traveling and the adventures of being a part of a military family which included living overseas in Germany and several states in the U.S. She was known to put family first. Her laughter could fill a room and she was always trying to feed friends and family when they would come over. Later, her passions developed to include being an active member of her church and then a doting grandmother. She loved playing games and joking with her grandchildren, showering them with affection and gifts. Her biggest joy was to make them laugh.
Donna is survived by her husband, Joseph, daughters JoAnn (Bruce) Hough, Lisa Shapiro (Gary Tudor), son Joey Shapiro and grandchildren Ethan Shapiro, Joshua and Justin Tudor, Sophie, Madeleine and Colette Hough.
A celebration of life for Donna will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 5:00-6:30 PM at Blount & Curry FH-Macdill, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609
