FAMILY

Dennis Moore was born in Brooklyn NY on December 18, 1947 to Charles Moore and Rita Wolkenstein. In August, 1967 he joined the Army as a paratrooper in the 118th Airborne Corp - 82nd Airborne Division and later as an MP in the 118th Military Police Company. After six years of military service, Dennis was honorably discharged in August, 1973 and then attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he received his Juris Doctor and Masters in Regional Planning. In 1980, Dennis joined the United States Attorneys Office in Raleigh, NC as an Assistant United States Attorney. In 1981, he transferred to the Middle District of Florida office where he remained until his retirement in 2007. Dennis was often given some of the most difficult trial assignments as he was trusted to handle problematic cases competently and professionally. He often said he had the best job in the world and never desired to do anything else. He was an avid fisherman and loved to fly fish in the mountains of North Carolina. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Roberts, his children Andrew and Ruthie (from a previous marriage to Pamela Patrick) and their spouses Karen and Carlos, his two grandchildren Mackenzie and Gavin, his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Mary Lou and their children Louis and Jack. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the James A Haley Veterans' Hospital, Tampa FL where Dennis volunteered his service for several years after retirement.
