David Brooks Alderman

ALDERMAN, David Brooks, 67 of Tampa, was born on May 4, 1948 in Bradenton, FL to the late Gordon Alderman and Wilma Brooks Alderman. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 2015. David retired as a Park Ranger for the State of Florida in 2013 after nearly 40 years of service. During his time with the Parks Department he demonstrated an unprecedented dedication to keeping Florida beautiful and preserving it for future generations. Environmental protection, education and conservation of Florida’s wildlife was something he worked for tirelessly the whole of this adult life. He was a talented fisherman who enjoyed boating the Florida waterways he loved so much. On his down time he was an avid reader especially of Sherlock Holmes novels and he grew to be a great fan of British comedies. David was also an American history buff, very well versed in Florida’s past, and he was involved for many years with the Ybor City Historical Society. Despite his many talents and passions in life what David will be most remembered for was his deep love for his family. He was a uniquely supportive and selfless husband, father and Pop Pop. His kindness touched everyone who knew him. He lived a deep and substantial life full of compassion, activism and enthusiasm and he will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Alderman Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Vohs Alderman of 28 years; daughters, Karen Matera and husband John and Kelly Lowery and husband David and his grandchildren, John Matera III, Michael Brooks Lowery and Kelly Matera. Also surviving is his niece, Katy Alderman. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from the Carrollwood Chapel of Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W.
