Carolyn Louise Curry

She was preceded in death by sisters Olga Jackman and Charlotte White, nephew Dennis Ray White and nieces Carole Jean Watkins and Linda White.

Carolyn grew up in Tampa and graduated from Jefferson High School where she was a majorette. The thrill of every Gasparilla parade for her young nieces was watching for Aunt Carolyn to come strutting down Franklin Street in front of the high school band.

After attending Florida State University Carolyn returned to Tampa where she worked in the appliance department of the downtown Maas Brothers department store. She moved to Clearwater and began a long career as a Home Service Advisor for Florida Power. As part of her job, she taught cooking classes for local organizations and drew standing room only crowds of retirees.

Carolyn loved to travel and lived for a few years in New Orleans and later in Atlanta. For the rest of her life she told stories about her love for each city.

After retiring she moved to Bonita Springs where her great nephew Curry made her an exuberant ice hockey fan. She travelled to arenas across the state to watch him play and cheer him on. She was “Aunt Carolyn” to all of the players.

Family was the center of Carolyn’s life and each niece and nephew has fond memories of her generosity and caring.

Carolyn is survived by nieces Pat Adamo, Shirley Perkins, Darlene LaRochelle and nephews Tom Jackman and Michael Jackman, and 23 of their children and grandchildren.

Carolyn’s family thanks the staff at Arden Courts in Tampa for their care in her latter years.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 8, at 10 am at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
