Haines, Carol, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 19, 2018 in Tampa. She was born January 14, 1938 in Macon, GA and was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline Sheppard and James Carl Giles; husband, Col. Norman Thomas Haines; and daughter, Lynley Ann. She graduated from St Petersburg Jr. College where she met the love of her life and husband of 51 years, Norman. She was active in the community as the former president of the American Cancer Society’s Sword of Hope Guild, current member of GFWC Tampa Woman’s Club and Newcomers of NW Hillsborough. Carol was a member of the Palma Ceia United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved to shop, play bridge and go to the movies with her grandchildren. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, sense of humor, big smile and kind heart. She is survived by her children, Michael (Mary), Regan (Alina) and Dani Hingson-Haines (Heather); grandchildren, Kristen, Austin, Ryan, Sydney and Emery; sister-in-law, Suzanne Haines; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial will take place at 10am on Friday, Nov. 30 at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church with a reception immediately following. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her memory to one of her preferred charities; American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
