Betty A. Sadlowski, 89, passed away on October 25, 2017 in Sun City Center, Fl. Betty was born in Great Barrington, Ma on December 29th, 1927. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Alex, and her brother Freddy. For Alex, it was love at first site when he saw Betty. Betty laughed when Al said to his friends “I’m going to marry that girl one day,” and he did! Betty and Alex moved to South Tampa in the late 1940’s to start a life and family together. Alex was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart and many other commendations. He was in the first wave landing at Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. Betty was always proud of Al’s service to our country. Al’s war buddies told him Tampa was the place to be so they made the move! Betty and Al started their life in Hyde Park and later bought a home in Palma Ceia. Betty enjoyed the family outings included strolls on Bayshore Boulevard, Sunday drives to Davis Island and plenty of beach time on Clearwater and Indian Rocks Beach. Betty worked at Simon Schwartz Market for 40+ years and later at Whaley’s Market. She enjoyed her customers and coworkers and worked until she was 79. Betty enjoyed vacations at the Indian Rocks Beach with family and friends, gardening, reading and watching the Tampa Bay Rays. Betty had a kind and sweet nature and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She will be dearly missed and always loved. She was a devoted wife and mother. Betty is survived by her children Ray Sadlowski, Nancy Conley (Allan) Susie Garris (Jim). Her brother Donnie Finkle (Mary). Grandchildren Travis Sadlowski (Tina), Lauren Garris and Jamie Garris (Brittany). She has two great grandchildren Torrey and Tessa Sadlowski, also numerous nieces and nephews. After living in her South Tampa home of over 50 years, Betty moved to Sun City Center to retire. She enjoyed her villa in Kings Point for many years and recently moved to Cypress Creek Assisted Living. A very special thanks to her caregiver and friend for many years, Theresa Baron. In lieu of flowers, enjoy a day at the beach with your loved ones. A private service will be held for family at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family of Betty Sadlowski wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Cypress Creek Assisted Living and Lifepath Hospice.
