He was born in Olean, New York on June 24, 1936. Walt graduated from Olean High School in 1953 and then joined the Marines and was a very proud veteran. He went on to St. Bonaventure University in NY & then on to Jones College in Orlando Florida where he received Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Walt worked as a cost accountant that took him around the world. He worked for: Chrysler Space Operations in Cape Canaveral FL in 1964; PA&E in Saigon, Vietnam 1966-68; Air America in Saigon 1970-74; AVCO NADCO Dhahran, Saudi Arabia 1975-77; Lockheed Corp Jeddah, Saudi Arabia 1978-80. He returned to Florida and then worked for PRC-Kennedy Space Center-Lockheed and then United Space Alliance in Merritt Island area until retiring in in 2002.
He married his beloved wife, Kim Ranallo on February 5th, 1971 in Saigon, Walt & his family lived in Merritt Island, FL for 27 years before moving to Tallahassee, FL and where he lived for more than 10 years. He was a member of Tallahassee Quarterback Club, American Legion Post 1, Air American Club and Good Samaritan UM Church. He adored his children & grandchildren, was proud of all FSU sports and proud of his country.
Walt was preceded in death by his father & mother, Orientis & Mary. His 2 brothers, Aldo and James Ranallo.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kim Ranallo; his daughter & son in law, Christina & Drew & his grandchildren, Marley & Ty; by his son & daughter in law, Brian & Cyndi & grandchildren, Aly, Alec & Cassie. He is also survived by his brother, Paul (Lorraine); brother, Rene (Harriett); brothers, Robert and Joseph; and many nephews & nieces. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 23 at 4pm at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home (Riggins).
The service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 11am at Good Samaritan United Methodist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
