He was born to parents Thomas and Renate Hayes in Sumter, South Carolina on July 26, 1959. As a child, he valued the time he spent with his father doing Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and ROTC where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He graduated from Niceville High School in the year 1977. Afterwards, he attended Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama.
He was employed as a dedicated site manager for various storage facilities in Tallahassee, FL. At work, he valued friendly service. He could always be found, smiling sincerely, as he worked tirelessly to provide a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He was a generous man of strong moral character and a true American patriot. He was an avid reader of the scriptures of the New King James Bible which was the solid foundation of his faith. In his last days, his comfort was found in the loving arms of Jesus Christ - his redeemer, his Lord, and the lover of his soul.
Thomas is survived by his doting daughter, Beth Zabel; his beloved step-children, Richard Croft and Amber Croft-Miller; his Grandchildren, Chauncey Croft, Andre Allen, Elisha Zabel, and Ethan Zabel; his mother, Renate Hayes; his sister, Tina Leonard; his loving partner Lilian Hayes; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jackson Hayes, Jr. and his brother, Carlton Hayes.
