Rose is survived by her husband, Ronnie Hunter of 38 years; her children, Ann Lisk, Sheila Durham; and son, Ron Hunter. She was Nanny to 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Wanda Taylor; and a brother, Ernie Shoopman. She is predeceased by her parents, Frances and Melvin Shoopman; 1 brother, Marvin “Bud” Shoopman; sisters, Sylvia Harris, Ruth Taylor, Gaye Shoopman, Faye Hogue, Elizabeth Wilson, and Peggy Snyder.
Rose was a practical nurse for many years and greatly enjoyed working in long-term care. She also loved to bake, making many birthday, wedding, and cakes for every occasion as well as sewing quilts, and supplying homemade jelly and canned goods to family and friends everywhere she went. Rose was a member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed baking cookies for children’s church often.
She was also a member of Campers on Mission, traveling all over the country with her husband and many retired couples, building churches, working in food pantries, pregnancy crisis centers, and many other projects to share the love of Jesus with others.
Her visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10:00am at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Fl. 32312. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00am, with burial to follow.
Their family Pastor, Mike Reason, will officiate.
