Richard H. “Dick” Wright, 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 14th, 2017. A native of Live Oak, FL he lived there during his early years, then moved to the Tallahassee area in 1967. He resided in the area for many years before moving to Atlanta. After 38 years of service from the State of Florida Department of Revenue, Dick retired and split his time between Belleview, FL and Balsam, NC. Dick was an avid Florida Gator fan. He enjoyed the outdoors and his passions included golf, fishing, and spending time with his family. He sponsored the Woodville Florist Softball Team and hosted the State Championship games one year. He always looked forward to the time he could get away and enjoy his place in the North Carolina Mountains. Dick was an active member of the Waynesville Baptist Church and was part of their church golf team. He was also a member of Belleview Baptist Church. Dick honorably served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Korean conflict where he was stationed on a mine sweeper.
Preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Bessie; three brothers: Billy, Pete, and Howard; survivors include his wife: Jean Wright and her daughters: Donna Laurent, Patricia Harrell; his sons: Melvin Pearson with wife Trease and Richard David Wright; their mother: Henrietta Raye Wright; daughter-in-law: Gina Lockler; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
