BLINDERMAN, RICHARD IAN, age 63, resident of Tallahassee, Florida and former partner at the law firm of Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., passed away peacefully in the morning hours of March 2nd, 2017 after a long and courageous battle against kidney disease.
A son of Irving and Phyllis Blinderman, brother to Stuart and Craig Blinderman, husband to Deborah Dozier Blinderman, father to Anyshia and Adam Blinderman and step-father to Mike Earp, Joseph Earp and Kelly Earp. Richard was also a loving uncle and grandfather.
Born in Jersey City, N.J. on February 7th, 1954, he spent his formative years in Colonia and Edison, N.J., graduating from J.P. Stevens H.S. in Edison. A graduate of Rutgers University and the University of Miami Law School, Richard practiced law for almost 30 years in South Florida before relocating to Tallahassee and eventually retiring in 2015. Richard's passion was his family and forging loving and lasting relationships with all who had the privilege to know him. An avid bird watcher and lover of nature, he also enjoyed painting, woodworking, model building and leathercraft. Richard was a lover of all things mechanical, from World War II aircraft to modern sports cars. He was a Porsche collector and greatly enjoyed driving them. A connoisseur of the culinary arts and fine dining, a perfect evening was spent with family and dear friends enjoying a home-cooked meal and fine wine. His true legacy, however, is found in the amazing children and step-children he influenced through his gentle, loving nature and strength of character.
Graveside services will be held at Oakland Cemetery, 838 N. Bronough St., Tallahassee, Florida 32303, on Sunday, March 5th 2017 at 2:00 pm. After services, family will be sitting Shiva at Richard and Deborah's home, 2020 Marne Ct., Tallahassee, Florida 32308. All are invited to join the family following the funeral service. Shiva will continue at the home of Craig and Judy Blinderman, 1881 NE 206th St., Miami, Florida 33179, on Tuesday March 7th, 2017 through Thursday March 9th from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, with prayers taking place at 6:30 p.m. each day, and on Friday, March 10th from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
