Norma Jean Vorce

Norma was born on December 31st, 1927 in York, Nebraska and graduated from York High in 1945, where her love of theatre was ignited when she was cast in the leading role in Junior Miss. She went on to graduate from York College in 1949 majoring in Theatre and Elementary Education and, after marrying her college sweetheart Fredric Vorce, they relocated to Tallahassee to attend FSU where she received her Masters degree in Theatrical Costuming in 1965.

Norma was a familiar face in the local theatre scene from her arrival in town in 1963. She performed many memorable roles with the Tallahassee Little Theatre, Entertainment Plus, Young Actors Theatre and Quincy Musical Theatre, as well as appearing in student work with the FSU Film School, and numerous local commercials.

Norma was also a lifelong teacher and dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the church choir for over 40 years. She taught elementary and middle school in both Wausau and Wayne Nebraska and proceeded to spend 17 years teaching at the First Presbyterian Preschool where she served as a Lead Teacher as well as Director.

Norma and Fred had four children – Marc, Pamela, Valerie & Kristin, and Norma was a beloved Grandmother to ten adventurous souls, and a “Great GG” to six more. She is survived by her brother Larry Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska and was preceded in death by her husband, son, and siblings, June, Joanne, and Gerry.

All who knew Norma will know that her quick sense of humor, wry wit, and caring heart will never be replaced, but there is solace in knowing that the qualities that made her a remarkable and unforgettable woman will live on in all those whose lives she touched over the years and she undoubtedly had a life well lived.

A visitation for Norma will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd, Tallahassee, Florida 32308. A funeral service will occur 11am Monday, November 28, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, 110 N Adams St, Tallahassee with a reception to follow .

Norma will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery, Piedmont Drive, Tallahassee, FL.
