The second born of four, Nick was a loving son, brother, faithful husband, brave pilot, devoted uncle, loving father, and a man of God. He is survived by his wife, Katherine (née Greenlee); his children, Nicole Evonne and Christopher Nicholas; his mother, Evonne Stavrojohn; sisters Patricia Hatcher (Michael) and Stacey Duggar (John); brother James Stavrojohn (Laurie); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
In 1973, Nicholas and his family relocated to Coconut Creek, FL, where he attended Margate Middle School, and graduated from Coconut Creek High School. He earned a degree in Business from Florida State University in 1984, graduating on the same day he accepted his commission in the United States Marine Corps.
Nicholas served one year at the Pentagon before starting his military aviation training at NAS Pensacola, Florida, where he met his future wife, Katherine. After their wedding in 1986, they traveled across the country from MCAS Pensacola to MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, where Nick completed the Combined Arms Exercise (CAX).
After Top Gun training, he was stationed at MCAS New River in Jacksonville, NC. Over the course of a decade flying HU-1N "Huey" helicopters, Nicholas achieved the rank of Captain. His final duty station was in Raleigh, NC, where he served as the Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer (OSO).
Nicholas will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, commitment to his country, and the love he shared with family and friends. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind cherished memories.
A private funeral service at Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church and burial at Tallahassee National Cemetery, with full military honors, will be held on November 4, 2024.
