Mary Jo Cox, age 89, a retired accountant with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and resident of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away at Big Bend Hospice on the 24th of August after a short illness.
Jo was born in Carbon Hill, Alabama to Joseph and Mary Lou Steadman on October 11, 1928. She was a member of the Baptist church in Miami, Florida and enjoyed china painting, swimming and FSU football. She attended school in Miami. Jo was one a charter member of Tallahassee Porcelain Artists (TPA) as well as a founding member of Capital City Porcelain Artists.
Jo was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James H. Cox, whom she affectionately called “My Jim”.
She is survived by her sister, Jane Cotter (Norman); brother, John Steadman (Dee); close loved ones, David and Vickie Laing; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on August 28, 2018 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice at 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
