Kathryn "Kathy" Harrell Fields

Kathryn “Kathy” Harrell Fields, age 79 of Tallahassee, Florida passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn Camp Harrell, Hugh Williams Harrell Sr., and brother Hugh Williams Harrell Jr.

She is survived by her son, Chris (Bethany) Fields, and grand dog Lefty of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Mike (Nancy) Harrell Sr.; nieces, Jennifer (Mike) Hopgood, Mary Kathryn (Stan) Kahn; nephews, Mike Harrell Jr., Justin Harrell; great nieces, Shelby Kahn, Savannah Harrell; great nephews, Jackson Harrell, Liam Kahn, and Jake Hopgood all of Tallahassee, FL.

Kathy was born in Greenville, Mississippi, and lived most her of life in Tallahassee. She graduated from Leon High School and Florida State University. After graduating from FSU, Kathy decided to pursue a career in education. She was a life-long educator for nearly 40 years with the majority of her time spent in Leon County. Kathy spent most of her career teaching elementary school, primarily at Sabal Palm and Hartsfield Elementary. After retiring she continued her love of education by volunteering.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed spending time with family and taking trips to the beach with her closest friends. She was a dear and faithful friend to all that knew her and was the epitome of southern grace and gentility. She had a quick wit, and always had a humorous story to tell. Kathy loved antique shopping, Scottish terriers, and the color blue. She was also an avid reader who especially enjoyed beach reads. Kathy will be remembered as a loving, faithful, and compassionate woman, who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Kathy was truly the angel of our family. She cared for her grandmother Katie, her mother Kathryn, and her father Bill during their end of life. Kathy cherished her family, nieces, nephews, extended cousins and especially her two wayward brothers.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Culley’s Meadowood, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.
