Josephine G. Whiddon

Mrs. Josephine Guilford (Jo) Whiddon passed away on September 1, 2017 at her caretaker’s home. Mrs. Whiddon was born Mary Josephine Guilford, the daughter of George Culver Guilford and Minnie O Baxley Guilford of Blountstown, FL. Mrs. Whiddon was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Jack G. Whiddon, Sr and two grandsons, Edward Kelly Whiddon of Charleston, SC and Michael Guilford Whiddon of Clermont, FL. She is survived by her children, Jack G (Margie) Whiddon, Jr of Charleston, SC, Donald T. (Beverly) of Pine Mountain, GA, Wade H. (Stacey) of Lakeland, FL, Kathryn W. Tully of Tallahassee, FL and Michael E. (Sharon) of Clermont, FL, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Jo and Jack, Sr. started Whiddon Glass Company in 1945 and were active in the business until retirement, when they passed it on to the children.

Jo was founding member of and active in her church, Wildwood Presbyterian, where she sang in the choir and participated in Women in the Church and helping any way she could. She and Jack spent many a weekend at their beach house at Alligator Point and attending FSU football games. They were longtime Seminole Boosters.

The family would like to thank Wendy Lee and Janice Musselwhite for the love and care they provided over the last year.

Friends may call at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road, Saturday (9/9) from 10:30 until 11:30 AM. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM in the Culley’s MeadowWood Capital Room and burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. For friends who wish, the family suggests memorial donations to Big Bend Hospice or a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
