John “Jack” Raymond Nylen, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on July 4, 1932. Prior to his retirement in 2000, he was the CEO of Earl Bacon Agency, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert and Josephine (Agnello) Nylen, his wife of 56 years, Beverly Keyes Nylen, and his sister Grace Nylen Barry. He is survived by his children, Karen N. Dedering (Raymond), Robert J. Nylen, Sr. (Brenda), John R. Nylen, Jr. (Lisa), Kimberly N. Steadman (Joseph), and five grandchildren, John R. Nylen III, Robert J. Nylen, Jr. (Madeline), Mallory A. Nylen, Sydney A. Steadman, and Mia N. Steadman. He is also survived by his devoted dog, Maisy.
Jack was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and passionate about his family. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and passed his love for the game of baseball and the Red Sox down to his children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, 2:00PM at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1732 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
