Jim began his life in 1946 in Bloomingdale, Michigan. Sharing the family’s farmhouse with his parents, John and Genevieve, brother John, and sister Janette.
He attended Western Michigan University before enlisting in the United States Navy. His enlistment was spent in Alaska. In his off time, he would repair the fishermen boat radios. His reward for a job well done was receiving the fresh catch of the day and sharing it with his buddies on base.
His education in the Navy began his lifelong career in IT, traveling the world and making friends wherever he stopped. It was on one of those work trips he traveled to Traverse City, Michigan, and met his future wife, Kitty.
In 1978, Jim and Kitty married and began their journey in California, working for Compugraphic Corp. A few years later they were overjoyed with the birth of their first daughter, Sara. Jim relocated to Grapevine, Texas, to start a new venture with McDonnell Douglas and then welcomed their second daughter, Kaylin. Over the next four decades Jim worked as an IT Enterprise Architect and Disaster Recovery consultant before retiring in 2019.
Jim’s achievements are seen in the people he mentored throughout his life. His joy from teaching people how to attain their goals, developing the skills to achieve that promotion or winning a new business contract, and helping with their business plans. Doing this out of the goodness of his heart and revel in that person’s or company’s accomplishment.
Jim will be remembered for his enthusiasm for his fly fishing trips, his quick wit and laugh. He was a loving husband, great father, proud father-in-law to Nate (Sara), kind-hearted uncle, and honored brother-in-law.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
