Jerry Foster Jacobs

Jerry F. Jacobs, 61, of Crawfordville, Florida, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel with burial to follow in Lake Ellen Baptist Church Cemetery in Medart. Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Jerry was born September 3, 1950 in Jacksonville, FL. He was drafted at the age of 19 into the Army and served his country proudly. Jerry worked the majority of his life as a Specialized Diesel Mechanic. He retired to enjoy the remainder of his life with his children and grandchildren and to go hunting and salt water fishing.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, B. S. Jacobs; his mother, Geneva Johns Jacobs; and three brothers, Leonard Crews, Peewee Jacobs and Johnny Jacobs.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lewanna Jacobs of Crawfordville; four sisters, Hazel McQuaig, Louise Farmer, Lewanna Adams and Ruth Watts; two sons, Shawn Jacobs (Lela), Jake Jacobs (Mandy Miller); three daughters, Dena Wiggins (Benny), Jerri Maloy (Jason) and Joy Jacobs (Clint Barton); and ten grandchildren, Brandon Maloy, Aaron Wiggins, Casey Green, Gage Barton, Samuel Green, Dalton Maloy, Gabriel Jacobs, Jake Nida, Destiny Green and Haylee Maloy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, FL or American Lung Association, 6852 Belfort Oaks Place, Jacksonville, FL 32216.

Jerry has gone to heaven to teach the angels how to fish.
