James "Jim" Cameron Watt

James (Jim) Cameron Watt, 88, passed away at his home in Tallahassee, Florida, on October 27, 2015. Born on May 23, 1927, in Forest Hills, New York, Jim graduated high school there in June of 1945. Two weeks later he was drafted into the US Army, subsequently serving two years in the Army of Occupation in Trieste, Italy.

In 1951, Jim earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising Art and Design at the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York City, afterward working for twenty years as a director of advertising art in NYC as well as in Milan, Italy. Later, having received a Master’s Degree in Human Services, Mr. Watt worked for twenty-five years as a rehabilitation therapist specializing in art therapy, primarily in the Forensic Unit of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.

Jim was preceded in death by his stepson, Jack Kirbo. He is survived by Susan Watt, his loving wife of 22 years; his son, Douglas Watt (and wife Martha); and grandsons, Alan and Jeffrey Watt; by his daughter, Jeanne Watt Prisco (and husband Gene); and grandsons, Michael and James Prisco; and by his stepdaughter, Leigh Kirbo Nester (and husband Brad); and grandchildren Collin, Chandler, and Aiden Nester. Jim was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Family and friends will also remember him as an avid Yankees’ fan, an aficionado of military parades, and as a stylish dresser. But perhaps most of all, Jim’s life-long joie de vivre will remain unforgettable.

A memorial service for Mr. Watt will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Freedom Church of Tallahassee, located at 2801 Thomasville Road, in Tallahassee, Florida.
