James M. McManus

James Marvin (Jim) McManus, age 74, of Tallahassee, Florida died Monday, August 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Bettye Stark McManus of Tallahassee, a sister and her husband, Mary Kate and Wiley Reid of Brookhaven, a daughter and husband Cindy and Al Pramuk of Roswell, Georgia, a son Ken McManus of Crystal Springs, and a stepson and wife, Monty and Karen Stark of Tallahassee, 9 grandchildren - Jennifer and Alan Pramuk, James and Jason McManus, Brian and Lauren Stark , Nathan, Landon and Jordan Holton and 3 nieces and nephews as well as two great- grandsons. He was preceded in death by his son, David McManus of Jackson, MS and grandson, Justin McManus of Brandon, MS. Jim was the son of the late Charlie and Jewel Thornton McManus of Terry, MS and grandson of the late Joe and Samantha McManus of Wynndale, MS and Wiley and Elizabeth Ellen Thornton of Crystal Springs, MS.

Jim was born and raised in Terry, MS, attended Terry High School and received his Bachelor of Science from Mississippi College. Prior to retirement, Jim was employed in the construction industry in Mississippi for a number of years in water/sewer and parking infrastructure. He was a member of the Jackson Wahabi Shriners, Immanuel Baptist Church, the Academy of Model Aeronautics Society and the Seminole Radio Control Club. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and flying airplanes.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Friday, August 13, 2010 at Culley’s Meadowwood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd. in Tallahassee, FL.
