Henry Landry (Bud) died in Tallahassee, Florida on March 4, 2017. Henry was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and was the oldest of his two siblings. At age fourteen his father passed and he dropped out of high school to support his family, and attend trade school to earn his GED. At age nineteen, one day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country.
As a Machinist's Mate he served on two different Destroyers DD in six different Southwest Pacific campaigns. He received one Silver Star, three Bronze Stars and one metal of Valor. He received his Honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy December 30, 1945. He married my mom, Marion Louise Clark on September 21, 1946. For 71 years he cared for her with unfaltering devotion and love.
His career occupations throughout life were as a tool and dye maker and Quality Control Inspector/Draftsman in machine shops. In 1958 we moved to Florida where he worked in space and military defense companies, and machine shops until the1990's. From that time forward he never stopped working combining his hobbies and interest into entrepreneurial endeavors. Buddy was an independent contractor doing home remodeling and repairs. He and my mom owned and operated an arts and crafts store for several years. He built boats, furniture, and children's toys. He repaired autos and painted both water color and oil paintings, selling as the "Affordable Artist." Throughout his life he had developed and attempted to patent numerous inventions.
While Henry could do anything, his most important contributions where as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. As family or friend you were the number one priority and if you needed him he would be there for you. My dad was a Prince of a Man and will be missed dearly but always held closely to our hearts.
Henry's immediate family surviving him are his bride Marion Landry, son Russell Landry and his wife Jane Landry, grandsons Seth and Gabriel Landry, great grandson, Evan DeRose, and Evan's parents Eric and Erica DeRose, and many dear friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.
