George David "Dave" Reese passed away on June 11, 2013.
A Tallahassee native, Dave will always be remembered for his quick wit, generosity, and kindness to all who were blessed to know him. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and loved FSU football. He dearly loved his animals, three cats and a flying squirrel.
Dave was born February 22, 1933 at the old Prince Murat place in Tallahassee, Florida. He spent four years in the United States Navy, eight years as a trooper with the Florida Highway patrol. He worked in the elevator industry for many years and as a state elevator inspector for twenty two years. He retired from the State of Florida in February 1998. Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was predeceased by his parents, David Dewey Reese and Flossie Mae Kelley Reese; and four siblings, Marvette Howard Reese, Mary Katherine Davis, Marjorie Ruth Hartmann and Martha Ann Rigg.
Dave is survived by his wife of thirty-three plus years, Helen Swilley Reese; and daughters, Debi Reese, Tracy Reese, Leslie Reese Gilmore and Kym Reese Ryals (Donny). He is also survived by his brother, Julian Reese (Ruby), Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Dave's life will be held 2:30 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road.
