Garrett R. Foster, born March 17th, 1937 and died January 31st, 2017. He was wonderful, as a husband, father, grandfather, professor, and coach. He and Nancy met at Austin High in El Paso, then both went to Texas Tech. They married and moved to Berkeley, CA where he earned a B.S. in Psychology from Cal and she taught school in Fremont and Oakland. The next move was to Austin, where Gary received a Ph.D. in Ed Psych from the U of Texas. They had 2 sons in Austin, Brant and Bruce. Ft Lauderdale, in 1963, was their next home where Gary evaluated Nova Schools with a Ford Foundation Grant from FSU, and where Tim was born. In 1968, the last move was to Tallahassee where Gary had over 30 wonderful years teaching in the College of Education at FSU, with Ph.D. students from around the world. Matthew was born in Tallahassee. The boys went to Timberlane, Raa, and Leon and were swimmers, divers, and runners. Gary and Nancy are the proud grandparents of Daniel, Zach, Alexa, Kayla, Morgan, Hayden and Banks Foster. Gary will be laid to rest in his favorite Seminole attire.
A celebration of his life will take place in the Parlor room of Trinity United Methodist Church from 5 until 7 pm this Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Big Bend Hospice.
