Eva L. Collins Gainous

Eva Collins Gainous, 86, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Monday morning, September 23, 2024. She was born to the late Willie and Annie Collins on January 14, 1938, and attended Leon County Schools, graduated from Old Lincoln High School and attended Florida A&M University. Eva worked with the Department of Education for over 35 years and Publix Supermarket until 2014. She leaves to mourn her passing four dedicated children: Annie Gainous Thompson, Nathan Gainous, Jr. (Carlette), Joyce Gainous-Harris, and Stephanie Gainous. She was also a proud grandmother to Tia Brumbelow (Michael), Dominic Thompson, NaQuinton Gainous (Jahanna), DiCarlo Thompson, Natalie Gainous, Arielle Kendrick, and Xavier Harris. She was also the proud great-grandmother to Declan Brumbelow, Reed Brumbelow, Gia Kendrick, Lennox Gainous and Kyrii Thomas.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Annie Collins; two brothers, Willie Collins and Sip Collins. She also leaves to cherish her memory four siblings: Lucinda Collins, Arthur Collins (Carolyn), Gracie Wilson, Moses Collins (Doris); and one sister-in-law, Altamese Collins; dedicated caregiver, Cheryl Delevoe and additional caregiving services by Carol Thompson-Riley, Mary Bunion, Janet Daniels, and Audra Williams.

The Celebration of Life for Eva Collins Gainous will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Elizabeth Popular Spring P.B. Church, 5034 N. Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. Visitation is on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. You can send flowers to Culley’s.
