Edward Burke Jolly, 91, died Jan. 26, 2023 at Westminster Oaks. He was born in Wynne, Arkansas, December 14, 1931, eldest child of Edward Benton Jolly and Blanche Burke Jolly. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the Maguire Center, Westminster Oaks.
A Navy veteran, he earned his BS degree in accounting in 1961 at Florida State University and worked as an Internal Revenue agent for six years in Pensacola. He earned his law degree at FSU and was admitted to the Florida Bar in l970. In Tallahassee he was Assistant General Council, Department of Banding and Finance, and then attorney for the joint Administrative Procedure Committee, Florida Legislature. He served as General Council to the Auditor General until retiring in l995.
As a member of the Florida Government Bar Association, he was a former member of the Executive Committee, chairman of the Administrative Law Committee and chairman of the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar Committee. He also served as local chapter president of the American Federation of Government Employees. He was president of the Westminster Oaks Residents' council from 2007 to 2008. He was also a member of The American Legion.
Burke was predeceased by his siblings, Francis Edgar Jolly and Leoatro Theda Jolly Weaver. He is survived by his wife Judith Randolph Hildreth Jolly, his daughter Judith Page Jolly, siblings Blanche West, Lewis Jackson Jolly, Donald Jerome Jolly and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The memorial service for E. Burke Jolly will be on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, 10 a.m., in the Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Oaks Communities Foundation at 4449 Meandering Way for the Benevolent Assistance Fund.
