Born February 8, 1918 in Smith Creek, Florida, she lived most of her live in Tallahassee. She retired from the Leon County School System where she was Cafeteria Manager at Leon High School. She loved Leon High Football and made sure the football team was well fed. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys. Her greatest joy was cooking for her family and she prepared wonderful holiday meals. She loved working in her yard and enjoyed her flowers. She was always available to provide a helping hand when any of her family needed her.
She is survived by her daughter, Clare Dixon (Robert), two sons, William Meggs (Judy) and Edward Meggs (Beth), her grandchildren, Kim McClellan ( Charles), James Galloway, Kyle Dixon (Karen), Trisha Pate (Craig), Wiley Meggs (Elizabeth), Neeley Knight, Major Dow Meggs(Andrea), Chason Meggs (Demery), Taylor Meggs (Brittney), Dollie Premorel (Frank), Jill Bryan, Jeffery Bryan (Carmalita), and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dowal W. Meggs, her daughter, Joyce Bryan, and her parents, Olevia Chason Anderson and William Wiley Anderson. The family would like to thank special care givers, Ida Smith and Lynda Houck, the caring staffs at Woodmont, and Big Bend Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home-Riggins Road Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Jackson Bluff Community Church Cemetery.
