Clint Joseph Howard Farley passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. He was born on February 11, 1965 in Montreal, Quebec. He met the love of his life, Teresa Carreiro, 31 years ago and they married 4 years later. In 1998, they were blessed with the birth of their son Marcus – the light of their lives.
Clint Farley will always be remembered by his warm smile, kind heart, and his always congenial, gracious manner. He was an incredible husband, father, athlete, teacher, coach and all around amazing guy. Yet the most significant roles that he played in his life and that which he cherished most were the roles of husband and father. He demonstrated his unyielding love for Teresa and Marcus every day of his life, and his death has left a monumental void. Not only in their lives, but also in the lives of an extensive circle of family, friends and colleagues that loved him too. Clint was a kind and generous person, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him feel blessed to have had him in their life.
“Big kid at heart” is how those who truly knew Clint would describe him. He was the dad that enjoyed playing with and entertaining the kids, while the so called “grown-ups” talked. Clint was a fun-loving, self-less person who was always there for his family and friends. He took tremendous enjoyment in coaching Marcus in every sport he played over the years: t-ball, soccer, baseball, football, and basketball. When Marcus took up the sport of rowing; Clint did so as well. As a father, Clint was engaged in every aspect of Marcus’ life.
Clint was a Leon County School (LCS) employee for seven years, and worked as a physical education teacher for the last five years. Clint was an incredible teacher who was admired and respected by his students and colleagues. One of his proudest professional accomplishments was when he was selected as the 2012-13 Teacher of the Year at Conley Elementary School. Prior to working with LCS, he was the assistant basketball coach at FAMU Developmental Research School for five years. Outside of work, Clint enjoyed playing multiple sports including league softball and competed as a member of Tallahassee Rowing Club.
He is survived by his wife Teresa and son Marcus Carreiro Farley; his mother Colette Farley Bryan (Paul Bryan); his beloved sisters-in-law Filomena, Joana (Al), and Gloria (Rick); and his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly – Sandra, Jason, Emily, and Rhys.
He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Farley and his brother Barry Farley.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to assist the family. Memorial gifts, made out to Teresa Farley, can be mailed to: 3758 Longfellow Road, Tallahassee, FL 32311 or dropped off at any Sunshine Savings Bank location.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home on Riggins Road. Mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More, followed by a reception of family and friends.
