Barry Austin Frazee, 86, loving husband of Norma Williamson Frazee, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at their home in Tallahassee after a valiant fight with cancer. A private memorial service was held on November 4th at Quinque Farm.
Mr. Frazee was born in Charlotte, NC, on September 16,1935, the son of the late John Powell Frazee and Margaret Jones Frazee. He was raised in North Carolina and Virginia.
Mr. Frazee was an all-state athlete in football and track at Highland Springs High School in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from his beloved Virginia Tech in 1958 having had a stellar record for the Hokies football team as their kicker and a leading running back.
Mr. Frazee had a career in the paper business completing his career as a vice president with the Champion International Paper Company. He retired to Tallahassee, Florida in 1989 where he has resided for the last 32 years. He became a golf professional at Golden Eagle Country Club and also served as the executive director of the Tallahassee Open Golf Tournament. Mr. Frazee has endeared himself to countless golf companions and partners for the past 20 years at Havana Country Club.
In addition to his wife of 13 years, he is survived by his brother, John Powell Frazee, Jr. (wife Cassie) and three daughters, Bridget (husband John) Schmidt, Tracy (husband Jeff Gershengorn), Keri (husband Mike) Roberts. His daughter Camille Frazee died as an infant. He was also blessed with four grandchildren, Austin Siems, Parker Siems, Taylor Roberts, and Justin Roberts, along with his three great grandchildren, Bren Siems, Arlo Siems and Bradyn Bohn. Mr. Frazee is also survived by his wife’s children, Robert Williamson and Sharon Oliphant.
