Barbara was born in Richmond, VA on Sept. 20, 1943. She has lived in Tallahassee for many years and has no surviving family and no children.
Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tallahassee, FL and several other Tallahassee organizations, ie: she was the first person to organize a chapter of the Red Hat Society in Tallahassee, and became "Queen-Ruby Rose, Fairy Godmother" when she was the first woman to post on the National Red Hat Society Bulletin Board issuing an invitation to Tea and membership meeting ; She was a former President of the XiXi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 2008; She was also a former President of "Tallahassee Women's Newcomer's Club" in 2003; She was very active in the theater group" Acting Up" at the Tallahassee (Little)Theater; She was an active member of "Surface Matters" a fiber arts group and made "Art to Wear" clothing; Barbara was also a member of the Tallahassee Quilting Society; the Weaver's Guild, and she made exquisite jewelry. Barbara also loved reading, cats and opera.
Barbara is survived by her Family of Choice: Robin and Tom McLaren and Personal Friend and Caregiver for the last four years: Richard Peyton.
A private graveside service will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Cemetery officiated by Rev. Margaret Fox, but due to COVID, there will not be a public Funeral or Memorial Service. There will be an online Guestbook at Culley's for those who knew Barbara Jackson.
