Born June 19, 1916 in Robinson, Illinois, she was the daughter of Everett Rual Griswold and Nellie Ann Price Griswold.
Annabelle married her husband, James Hancock in 1939 in Tallahassee. They were founding members of Fellowship Baptist Church. Annabelle retired in 1980 from the admissions Department of Florida State University where she admitted many of the FSU football players. At her retirement she was presented with an autographed football of all the players; something she was most proud of.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria H. Maddox; granddaughters, Gina Maddox and Risa Green, her sister-in-law, Mabrine Griswold of Jacksonville, Florida and two great grandchildren, Tanner and Ramsie and her many favorite nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years in 1997, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Culley’s MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel with burial to follow in MeadowWood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service
The family wishes to thank Big Bend Hospice for their care, and a very special “thank you” to her care givers; Angela Johnson, Frieda James, Corrine Murray and Michelle Free, who made it possible for Annabelle to remain in her home.
