Valerie Kay Beckmann-Hawley was born on July 22nd, 1969, in Orange, CA, the daughter of Jerry Gene and Emily Jean (Nunley) Beckmann. She attended school at Dale High School in Stanton, CA. The family returned to the Tahlequah area and Valerie began her working career as a Certified Medication Aide , working at Grace Living Center on University for many years. She was faithfully found coming down the hall, her face lit up with her famous smile, making everyone of her patients feel loved and special. Holidays found her decorating their rooms, buying special little gifts, always something for someone else. When she had some free time, Valerie grabbed the kids and away they went to the river or lake, basking in the sun, splashing in the water, and getting ready to share another famous cookout, Valerie style. As her family grew and the grandchildren came along, Valerie spent every spare moment she had, taking them out for a day of play at the river. She married Roger Hawley and together they shared a lot of laughter and good times, raising the kids, and enjoying life. Her family was always the most important thing in life. She adored every moment she had to spend with her children, grandchildren, brother and sister. Valerie had experienced a lot in her short lifetime. With the passing of her husband Roger in 2015, Valerie’s health began to fail her. She passed from this life on December 26th, 2016 in Tahlequah, OK, following a brief illness. Valerie was 47 years old. She will be greatly missed, as will her smile, the love she gave, and her laughter.
She has been preceded in death by her mother, father, her husband Roger Hawley, her son, Jonathan Engleman, and her stepson, Bradley Hawley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Emily Hawley Phipps of Tahlequah, OK, her son, Jeremy Hawley of Tahlequah, OK, stepdaughter Katrina Hawley of Seneca, MO, and stepson, Luke Hawley of Corpus Christi, TX. She leaves one brother, Jeff Beckmann and wife Bobbye of Tahlequah, OK, and one sister, Amanda Purdue and husband Mike of Colorado Springs, CO. She lives on in her eight adored grandchildren, Arielle Hawley, Bradley Spear, Mackenzie Perry, Brae Perry, Alan Hawley, Alden Jones, Jeremy Hawley Jr., and Lane Phipps, as well as many friends and loved ones she has helped along the way. We will miss you Valerie.
