Richard “Mark” Dunn Passed away from this life on June 16, 2012 in Stilwell, OK at the age of 55 years. He was born October 26, 1956 in Okmulgee, OK the son of Wesley and Joan (Sunny) Dunn. Mark grew up in the Nuyaka area where he attended school and later graduated from the Sequoyah High School in 1975.
Mark enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Field Artillery Unit. He continued to re-enlist, until he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent/Gunnery Sargent. His tour of duty stations included Fort Sill in Lawton, OK, California, and Germany. Mark received many awards and achievements during his career in the military. After retiring from the Army Mark resided in Tahlequah with his family.
Mark worked for the Cherokee Nation and was currently employed with Schwans Foods in Stilwell, OK for 9 years. Mark was a loving father, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and loved going fishing, camping and going to Sequoyah basketball, football games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wesley Dunn Jr., and Johnny Lee Dunn, one sister Mary Ann, 2 Nephews, John Haney, and Thomas Jr., and one grandson Dayton Dunn.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dora Smith-Drywater of the home, one daughter Nakayla of the home, three sons, Mark Dunn of Tahlequah, Edwin Dunn and his wife Dacia of Tahlequah, and Timothy Dunn and His wife Deana of Tahlequah, three brothers, Thomas Dunn and his wife Mary of Okmulgee, George Dunn and his wife Barbara of Morris, and Otis Dunn of Muskogee, two sisters, Kathy Haney and husband Willie of Morris, and Josephine and husband Stacy of Muskogee, his mother –in-law Leola Girdner of Welling, and three special ladies in his life Eliza Sanders, Elsie Pritchett and Regina Tidwell, and 9 grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
