Michael Myron Smith, was born on October 17th, 1961 in Tahlequah, OK to Bobby Lee Smith and Glenna (Mutt) Ruckman. He was a graduate of Cave Springs High School located in Bunch, OK. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes and attending rodeos. Raised in the foothills and countryside, he grew up loving the outdoors. Whenever he had the chance, he could be found fishing alongside a creek bank and taking in the fresh air. These joys in life were shared with his best friend, Eva Gail Sellers. Joined in marriage October of 1983, Michael and Eva enjoyed years of memories and raised a family of two sons, Blayne and Derek and one daughter, Krysten. Michael was not a man of many words, but had a keen sense of humor, throwing out a joke now and again that would get everyone laughing. Throughout his life, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and owned his own business. He was known by many to have an extraordinary work ethic. Hard work was a trait he was most proud of and since passed his work ethic to his children. The life and legacy he left will always be remembered. Michael was called from his labors on Sunday, February 12th, 2023 at his home is Welling, OK. He was 61 years old and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, his wife, Eva Gail (Sellers) Smith, one son, Derek Smith, one brother, BJ Smith and one sister, Megan Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Bobby Lee Smith, his children Blayne Smith and his wife Veronica of Richland, WA and Krysten Smith of the home in Welling, OK. He leaves his brothers and sisters, Randy Smith of Welling, OK, Chris Smith of Stilwell, OK, Angie Dandridge and her husband Fred of Stilwell, OK and Brenda Smith of Caney Ridge, OK. His legacy lives on through his eight grandchildren, Cash, Brooks, Hannah, Alex, Jeremias, Allison, Austin and Ryan, as well as many friends and loved ones that meant so much to him.
A graveside memorial for Michael will be held on Friday, March 3rd, 2023 at 10:00am at Barber Cemetery located in Welling, OK. Musical selections will be conducted by Angie Dandridge and family.
