Mary Ann Sanders was born on November 30th, 1944, in Delaware County, OK, the daughter of Swimmer and Eliza (Mouse) Glass. She attended school until the 10th grade at Kansas School. She was raised in a family of eight brothers and two sisters, Robert, Elmer, Bonnie, Josh, John, Leroy, Emma Lee, twins Johnny Lee and David Lee and Baby Boy Glass. On February 18th, 1966, she married her best friend, Mose Lee Sanders in Bentonville, AR, and together they enjoyed 34 years of memories and raised a family of six sons and three daughters. They made their home in Kansas, OK, and it was here that Mose and Mary served the Lord, Mose as an ordained Baptist Minister and Mary as his right hand and the constant presence at his side. They traveled extensively, doing Gospel Singing and performing with the Cherokee Nation Choir, and spreading the gospel all around the countryside. Mary was always working to see that all her children and grandchildren had a homemade quilt to keep out the winter chill. Her kitchen was always open to everyone at meal time where you could find a pot of beans on the stove, some friend potatoes, and her famous raisin pies. In her house, everyone was equal, and it didn’t matter who you were or what you did, there was always a warm welcome at her doorstep. Holidays found her house packed to the rafters with people enjoying life, each others company and a lot of laughter. She was constantly keeping track of her grandchildren and all their activities, she never missed. When she was at home, there was always time to share a cup of coffee and a little chat with her sister Bonnie. She liked to work on her puzzle books, enjoy a little chewing tobacco and exploring the world through her tablet. She attended Long Prairie Baptist Church most of her adult life, and served the Lord she loved by caring for all her family and friends around her. She was Mom and Grandma to many in the community. Mose passed in 2000, and Mary continued loving on her family and everyone in her community. She never let you know when her adversities got her down, and when her health began to fail her, Mary fought on with the same determination she used all her life. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on Saturday July 7th, 2018 at her home in Kansas, surrounded by those who knew and loved her best. She was 73 years old. She will not be forgotten.
She has gone on to join her mother, father, her husband Mose, a grandson, Malikye Sanders, her grandparents, Charlie and Lucy Glass and Abraham Mouse and Olkin Forktail, and her brothers and sister, Josh Dowling, John Lee Glass, Leroy Glass, Johnny Lee and David Lee Glass, and baby boy Glass.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, David Sanders and wife Julienne of Oaks, Troy Sanders and wife Melissa of Westville, Lynn Sanders and wife Stephanie of Kansas, Mike Sanders and wife Shauna of Oaks, Creighton Sanders and wife Renee of Kansas, Clinton Sanders of Kansas, OK, Emma Foreman and husband Swain of Kansas, OK, Amy and husband William Alarcon of Kansas, and April Stick and husband Lance of Kansas, OK.
