Tahlequah, OK - Funeral services for John Scott Sr. will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Echota Baptist Church in Stilwell, OK. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30th, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will be held at Echota Cemetery in Stilwell, OK. John Scott Sr. was born on March 24th, 1939 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Daniel and Lula (Adair) Scott. Upon graduating from welding school, he went to work for Boeing Aircraft and worked there until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Geraldine “Jerry” Davis on July 2nd, 1965, in Wichita, KS. This union was blessed with three sons, four daughters, and 48 years of love and memories. Whenever he wasn’t working, John could be found spending time with his family. He loved watching his kids and grandchildren play sports, share a meal, or just enjoy the day together. He took great pride in coaching his kids in sports. He loved spending the day fishing, playing football, taking vacations, playing Bingo with family, or drawing. He was always thrilled to be going to a family reunion where he could catch up on the latest news in the family and swap “old stories” of past adventures. He had a great sense of humor, joking and teasing all of his family. A Christian by faith, he was a member of Christian Chapel Foursquare in Wichita, KS. Also, he attended Echota Baptist Church in Rocky Mountain, OK, his family's church. The Lord called John from this life on January 25th, 2014 in Tahlequah, OK. John was 74 years old. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
John is preceded in death by his mother and father, and two brothers, Hickey and Lincoln Scott.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Jerry Scott of the home in Tahlequah, and his seven children, Danny and wife Glenda of Wichita, KS, Jackie and her husband Billy of Udall, KS, Regina of Wichita, KS, Johnny and wife Lisa of Wichita, KS, Karen and husband Troy of Tahlequah, OK, Donita of Wichita, KS., and Cherokee of the home in Tahlequah, OK He also leaves four brothers and three sisters, Daniel Scott of Cypress, CA, Jerry Scott and wife Mary of Stilwell, OK, Tommy Scott and wife Louella of Stilwell, OK, Terry Scott of Stilwell, OK, Barbara of Carnegie, OK, Anile of Tahlequah, OK, and Clara and husband Dennis of Stilwell, OK. John’s legacy lives on in his 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
