Dwain Neal Denney began his journey in life in San Mateo, CA on January 14, 1946. He was the son of Audie and Frances (Kinsey) Denney and was raised with one sister, Judy. He went on to earn his diploma from Tahlequah High School in 1964 before continuing his education at Northeastern State University. In the summer of 1966, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, where he proudly served his country for six years, receiving his honorable discharge in 1972. A few years down the line, he went on to complete cleat training with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. However, his skills wouldn’t end there, finding his long-time career at TPWA in waterline maintenance for 29 years, retiring in 1999. He then spent many of his summers doing yard work for Lake Region Electric Company. He met the love of his life, Carol L. Briggs, and the two were married on July 19, 1983 in Miami, OK. Together, they shared over 41 years of love and memories, between them they had seven children, Cathy, Kristi, Ryan, Lisa, Cheryl, Janna and Brandon. He loved time spent with his family and took every opportunity to be outdoors, whether it was fishing his favorite fishing hole or out hunting deer and turkey. Even after he could no longer manage to hunt in a stand, he could be found propped up with his riffle hunting from front porch. He never passed up a good outdoor flea market and also worked part time at the Speckled Hen Flea Market. He loved going to pawn shops and collecting Case and other knives. The grandchildren were always welcome at grandpa’s house and he enjoyed their company, sharing stories and knowledge he’s learned through the years. He loved when everyone could come together for the holidays or to share a great meal. One of his favorite meals, a family tradition, was a bowl of brown beans with Miracle Whip. A warm honey bun with butter or his mom and sister’s coconut cream pie and banana oatmeal raisin cookies were among the other treat he looked forward to. Aside from his family, it was his faith in Jesus that gave him purpose. He had a passion for sharing the love of Jesus with anyone in came in contact with. No matter the time or place, he would stop to pray for a person in need. He pastored Revival Temple in Muskogee and was the co-pastor at Believers Christian Fellowship for some time. He found his home at Philadelphia Bible Center where he has been a devoted member, always lending a helpful hand to further the Kingdom. On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, this good and faithful servant was called to his eternal home where he was welcomed in the arms of his Savior. He was 78 years old and will forever be remembered by the many that knew and loved him.
He has gone on to join his parents Audie and Frances (Kinsey) Denney.
