Funeral services for David Wayne Soban will be held on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at 2:00pm with Pastor David Jones officiating. His visitation will be conducted Friday, February 8th, 2019 beginning at 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Neugin Cemetery next to his dad, William Soban. Pallbearers for David include Coy Vaughn, Jeremiah Gatewood, Eugene Adair, Brandon Adair, Tye McNatt, and Willard Oosahwee. His honorary pallbearers include Blacky Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Larry Gatewood, Claude Wilson and Millard Leonard.
David Wayne Soban was born on Wednesday, September 11th, 1957 in Kansas City, MO, the son of William and Cora (Treasure) Soban.He grew up with one brother, Tommy and two sisters, Carol and Sharon. He attended school in Hulbert and Lost City, graduated from high school and then began his career as a Union Iron Worker with Local #14, a career beginning in 1979, spanning 37 years. He loved traveling the USA, amd has been from Maine to Washington, Florida to Texas, Pennsylvania to Nebraska and everywhere in between. The work was hard, but David kept himself in shape and worked from sunup to sundown, and was the definition of dedication. Whenever he had some time, he was a shade tree mechanic, and loved working on the cars in his collection. He was blessed with a really good sense of humor, loved the great outdoors, camping and fishing, time spent with family and friends, and most of all, long walks with the grandchildren he adored. He was the proud father of a son, Billy and a daughter, Vanessa. The greatest people on earth were his grandchildren, Kaylei and Shiye, they were warm, witty and wonderful to David. He married Beverly Louise Tobias in Lufkin, TX on September 9th, 2016. David had recently traveled to Nebraska to work when the Lord called this kind and hardworking man home from his labors. He was 61 years old and leaves a void that can never be filled.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beverly of the home in Tahlequah. He leaves two children, Billy Soban and wife Aubrey of Hulbert, OK, and Vanessa Duncan of Stilwell, OK. he leaves his brother and sisters, Tommy Soban and wife Sue of Oklahoma, sisters Carol Rockey and husband Joe of Norwood, OK, and Sharon “Suzie” Soban of Tulsa, OK. David has two step daughters, Susan Thayer of Lufkin, TX and Sarah Simmons also of Lufkin, TX. David lives on in his grandchildren, Kaylei Cannon of Hulbert, OK, and Shiye Soban also of Hulbert, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
