Charles Robert Reed was born in Decatur, GA, to Kathleen P. Reed and Timothy A. Reed (deceased). He is survived by his mother, a resident of Tahlequah; his sister Jenni Reed and her husband, Chris Reed, and her children, Natalie, Matthew and Daniel Bright; and his sister Sandi Reed and her husband, Filippo Falcone, and their children, Miriam, Benjamin and Ryan Falcone.
His passing was very unexpected and sudden for both his family and friends.
Charlie was our middle brother and son. We have fond memories of playing board games and long family car and camping trips to the Appalachians, the Grand Canyon and so much more. As a child he always dreamed of being an Air Force pilot and made countless detailed paper airplanes and drawings of fighter jets. He also enjoyed going hunting with his dad. He graduated high school in Steamboat Springs, CO. After high school he went on to study theology at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where he played the trumpet in the concert band and sang in the men’s choir.
He served as a sergeant and a cryptologic linguist in the US Army for five years, one year of which was in Afghanistan. He then went on to serve in the Army Reserves. He was very dedicated to serving his country and held tightly to his patriotic and Christian beliefs. Known as “Sarge” by many of his closest friends, many of whom are veterans themselves, Charlie loved football, spur-of-the-moment road trips and talking politics.
Our time with you, Charlie, was cut way too short, and we will always remember and miss you as our loving son, beloved brother and loyal friend.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 2:30 pm.
